About the Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis in Abbotsford, BC. Reporting to the CFO, your essential duties and responsibilities will include:
Management
- Helping develop and document accounting policies and procedures
- Leading, guiding, and developing other personnel within the administrative team
- Overseeing network structure and architecture (organization of network drives)
Reporting
- Assisting in the timely compilation and analysis of financial statements
- Recommending and reporting benchmarks and KPI’s to measure company performance
- Generating, maintaining, and distributing various operational reports
- Preparing and analyzing job cost reports
Compliance
- Assisting and coordinating information requirements with external accountants
- Monitoring debt levels and compliance with banking requirements
- Preparing and analyzing all government reporting requirements and tax filing (GST, PST, WCB, EHT, IFTA)
Transactions
- Reviewing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions for accuracy and completeness
- Reviewing, analyzing payroll journals
- Helping maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
More About You
In order to qualify for the role, you will need a minimum of 5 years in a progressive accounting role, with at least 3 years in a similar position. In addition, you must have a CPA designation or equivalent (CGA, CMA, CA). Fluency in English with strong communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as exposure to foreign exchange are also required. Experience with data mining and manipulation using VBA or comparable software/language will be considered a strong asset.
As our ideal candidate, you will have established your career with a proven ability to apply technical accounting concepts, coupled with the ability to adapt to the needs of the organization. You possess excellent organizational and time management skills, meticulous attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines, and the capability to analyze financial and non-financial data. You are able to manage multiple and diverse projects simultaneously, and have previous experience with Percentage of Completion Revenue Recognition & WIP reporting.
Above all, you have well-developed leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and influence others and to effectively develop relationships and generate collaborations.
